As part of our Fruit-full schools project we hosted our first Apple day celebrations. We ran a number of competitions including ‘longest peel’ and apple bobbing. The boys seemed to have a great time and really get involved. We hope that this is an exciting venture that will become a permenant feature of the WIlson’s school year.
The year ahead 2010-2011
Well we’re back and ready to start our attempts to haul ourselves onto the eco-wagon once again. This year we already have a huge number of exciting projects. Some a continuation from the work started last year and some brand new. You can join us in a number of ways: 1. comments on the ecoblog 2.come along to eco-schools meetings which are currently held on Tuesday lunchtime up in room 22 3.join gardening club which meets every Thursday.
This year’s projects will include: Rolling out recycling to the whole school, bringing down our energy use, communication with the whole school about ways to improve our eco credentials, irrigation system for the orchard and allotment, expansion of the orchard, planting new vegetables, design/build and enter this years RHS Wisley Budding Gardeners competition.
Oh and Wilson’s has got Bees! Located well out of the way of students and teachers bees arrive at WIlson’s over the summer holidays and are doing well. Now in the first instance students won’t be going to see them but when we get the honey we hope to create a series of activities for the boys and sell our first Wilson’s honey. Watch this space…
Ever optimistic

The Eco-schools Framework
We are currently on the Bronze level of the Eco-schools framework, hoping to move swiftly to Silver but we have our eyes on the Green Flag award.
Gardening Club
We have a very active gardening club, our current crowing achievement is our school orchard.

Welcome.
Welcome to Eco-Wilson’s!!
Please look around this micro-site to investigate what is happening but this front page is for everyone to help us move forward in our goal to become more efficient, more sustainable and more thoughtful in our use of resources at school.
Please feel free to comment, you don’t have to be a member but our first question is as follows:
What would you change first to make Wilson’s a more sustainable school?
